Regigigas Towed the Continents Into Place With Ropes

Arceus gets called the creator, and it is the one people argue about. Regigigas quietly has the more specific creation myth of the two — and unlike Arceus, its entries describe physical labour rather than divinity.

The ropes

Towed. With ropes. Not willed into place, not spoken into being — dragged, using equipment. It is the least godlike description of world-shaping in the entire franchise, and it is far more evocative for it. Somebody, in-universe, pictured this and decided the continents were hauled.

Shield restates it and adds the sequencing: it created other Pokémon from many different materials, and then moved the continents to where they are today. So the golems came first, and the geography came second.

It made the other Regis by hand

Clay, ice and magma. Three materials, three golems, each matching its substance. This is a craftsman's myth, not a creator's — the language throughout is of making things out of stuff you have to hand, which is why Regigigas reads more like a smith or a builder than a deity.

And it can hardly move

Here is the part the lore never acknowledges. Regigigas has a base stat total of 670 — the same as Slaking, higher than most legendaries — and exactly one ability: Slow Start, which halves its Attack and Speed for the first five turns of every battle.

Five turns is an eternity. Most battles are decided inside it. The creature the myths credit with dragging landmasses across the sea spends the opening of every fight visibly struggling to get going, and by the time it is at full strength the fight is usually over.

It is the same design decision that produced Slaking — an enormous number, locked behind a mechanic that makes sure you never really hold it. But on Regigigas the lock is thematic in a way Truant is not. A thing that once towed continents now takes five turns to build up momentum, which is exactly what you would expect of something that large and that old.
